I love this book
OH, I know, wheels on the bus....but this is SOOOOO lovely....it would be perfect for a birthday gift as all the people going on the bus are going to a party. Lovely holes to peek through and a nice big size....what a bargain. Will become a well read and much loved addition to any young childs' bookshelf
Great fun
It's great when a children's rhyme we all know is given a new lease of life. This book does this. Yes there is the bus, yes there are the wheels and all the rest, but there is so much going on in each picture and each picture is so full of colour and life, that my youngster never gets tired of the book.
That's the best recommendation I can give.
Our baby LOVES this already!
This book has a long life ahead. Our baby loves it already and has done since he was 5 months old. There are so many images and characters to talk about as the bus travels along. The weather changes, there are different animals and each page has new things happening inside the bus. It's very bright and cheerful and our son is always reaching out to touch the pages and holes. A lovely little book that you can sing along with, or just talk about and make up your own stories about the people and animals.

So hard to put down!I pre-ordered this book off Amazon as I was currently without a decent book to read. From the moment it dropped through my letter box, I could not put it down. Not only did it look very pretty (a lovely gift for someone), but the first few pages totally had me hooked and I can't remember the last time I enjoyed a book this much. It's another fantastic narrative by Cecelia Ahern, with parts that made me laugh out loud and others that made me want to cry along with the main character.
The Book of Tomorrow
I have found the last 3 or so books of Cecelia's to be just so I absolutely loved her first two books PS I Love You and Where Rainbows End but, found the books to come after to be seriously lacking. However, I find this to be a return to form although not as good as the two aforementioned books, not sure those will ever be matched.
The main character Tamara is really quite spoiled and lives a life most of us could only ever probably dream of that is until her father is found lying dead after committing suicide due to debt which is left she has gone from having everything anow has absolutely nothing.

Classic song to enjoy with your kids
My Mum bought this for me when I was little and I loved the song. I forgot all about it until recently when I bought a Pete Seeger CD - 'Birds, Beasts, Bugs and Fishes (Little and Big)' - and it has this slightly dark but funny song on it. So I searched on Amazon and found the book I had when I was little. It's got holes in it so you can peek into the old lady's tummy to see all the animals she's gobbled up. Now my little girl enjoys singing the song with me about the old lady who swallowed the horse, cow, dog, cat, bird, spider and fly - perhaps she'll die?
Simply wonderful
There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed A Fly......and copious other creatures, much to the three year old's delight. Great pictures and you view what she has swallowed through a hole of ever increasing size. "Mama, they're in her tummy!" He loves running his finger round the wiggly die cut holes where the repeat lines appear. He loves giggling at the tickly spider. It's not the sort of book you need to encourage them to get involved with - they just do! A lovely version of this old classic song and one that gets the cry of "do it again" at least three times every time you read it. Great fun. Enjoy it!
She's dead of course!
I remembered reading this book to my sister when she was a baby (20-odd years ago!) and thought that I'd buy it to read to my 2 1/2 year old daughter.
My little girl loves it, she likes the fact you can see what she's eaten and best of all she loves shouting at the end of every page "Perhaps she'll die!"

The Very Hungry Caterpillar:Giant Board Book
The Very Hungry Caterpillar is a true childrens classic. The story appeals to the very young with its bright inviting pictures, older children with its fun repetitive narration which they love to join in and new readers whose familiarilty with the story can boost their confidence embarking on an exciting world of books. As a Nursery Nurse,I feel this giant board format will be an ideal gift for a childrens Nursery which I visit in the West Indies. The chidren will be able to interact with telling of the story with the toy caterpillar, and the book will withstand generations of loving.I know it will become a firm favourite instantly and hope I can read it to them first to share the magic !!
A book for all generations...
I'm now in my thirties but I still remember my mom taking me to the local library. For young children, the library had a low display area including seats which was full of over-sized books. The first book I always looked for was the Hungery Caterpillar. I used to put my finger through the holes and absolutely love the simple but cyclical story and the vivid pictures. I'm now a Dad and this is the first book I will buy my daughter - a true classic!

A masterpiece of empathy
Sometimes a fictional interpretation of history is exactly what we need in order to be able to come to a real understanding of what it meant to live through historic events, particularly horrific ones. Markus Zusak provides us with a masterful interpretation of the Nazi period of German history from the perspective of ordinary people suffering through it and striving to keep their lives together and their souls alive and kicking within the horrific and ever-tightening boundaries constructed by the Nazi regime. He gives us a gut-wrenchingly palpable empathy for people facing harrowing decisions on a daily basis. His marvelous characters bring to life the dilemmas of those who believe they should help the Jews as well as the equally nightmarish predicament of Jews who through receiving help put others in danger. We see much of this through the perspective of the main character Liesel, who is only a young girl. Her innocence and the gradual realizations she comes to about the events swirling around her in a maelstrom of horror evoke a remarkable empathy in the reader. If you want to understand how the little people cope with such tragic historic events without allowing their souls to be crushed, read this book. Ultimately it is a portrait of the resilience and hope of the human spirit.
Just read it!!!
I am not sure how to describe this book - without either giving too much away - or making it sound depressing and grisely which it is not at all. Suffice to say this is a novel narrated by death. It is the story of a young girl living in Nazi Germany, who goes to live with a foster family, and learns to read, and falls in love with: books, her new Papa, a boy called Rudy, and a Jew hiding in a basement. It is also a story of WW2 - from a persepective we don't often see - ordinaary Germans - some of whom were members of "The Party."
